See and Hear - Her Parents - Why Don't You Just Fuck Off

Trying to explain the weird and wonderful world of 'Her Parents' is like trying to tell Matthew McConaughey how awful he is. It just can't be done. Lead vocalist Sean Clothier describes his band in a surprisingly reserved way. “We are a great bunch of guys who play really quick punk songs that make you jump around and punch things for no more than about 90 seconds at a time.”

Hailing from across multiple continents and including ex/current members of Dananananaykroyd, Stairs to Korea and Internet Forever, 'Her Parents' are ridiculously fun and have just signed to the label to match. The ridiculously fun 'Alcopop! Records', home to the likes of Johnny Foreigner and The Social Club.

The band's first full length album, if you can call it that (11 tracks and a total of 16 minutes long), was called 'Physical Release' and was recorded  as a live session with no instrumental over-dubs. Brilliantly so. Reflecting the bands personality perfectly in record form. A mad experience with tracks that could cause an aneurism (in a good way). A personal highlight for me was the track 'Justin Vernon', an ode to the Bon Iver singer, which included such genius lyrics as "he auto-tuned an owl" and "he used ducks in his drum-beats".

Now back with a new release with Alcopop! entitled 'Happy Birthday', the band release the first single as a free download. The aptly named, 'Why Don't You Just Fuck Off'. Again littered with mad riffs and equally middle-finger lyrics. e.g. "If it looks like a duck and it quacks a duck and it sounds like a duck why don't you just get fucked?". I don't know what you're thinking but I absolutely love this band.

I won't try and explain the video, it may have some deep symbolism to it. But Matthew. You are just terrible. Watch it below.

Spoil yourself and get the free download here. The 1p, custom sprayed CD single is unfortunately sold out. Await 'Happy Birthday' on the 13th of May. Blink and you'll miss it, but if you keep your eyes open, you're in for a treat.
