Project: Alice Jemima - BBC Introducing in Bristol Session

If anyone is a perfect example of the purity of songwriting it's 19 year-old Alice Jemima. A beautiful singer-songwriter from Devon, Alice has been writing and playing songs from a very young age. She also records, produces and mixes all of her tracks from home, by herself. She's been very popular at BBC Introducing in Bristol almost since inception and even played our showcase gig at Start The Bus two years ago. So it seemed perfect that Alice was the last person to record a session for us before our metamorphosis into 'BBC Introducing in the West'. And so the last session I am to film for 'BBC Introducing in Bristol'. A complete archive of previous sessions can be found on our YouTube page.

The two tracks below are taken from Alice's latest offering, her debut EP entitled 'All The Boyfriends'. Proving that you don't need a big label and production team to create a great piece of work, it is a great representation of a DIY ethic. The CD casing especially (if you have the privilege of owning a copy) is gorgeous. The outer sleeve has been printed to look like a projecter slide and the CD has been moulded to have the distinctive bumps of a Vinyl record.

The songs match the physical product in delicacy. They are sweet, simple, catchy pop songs that can make even the most miserable old bastard feel cheery. The lead track 'By Your Side' has been causing a huge stir on blogs and voting charts. She's definitely one to watch  as I'm sure that her talent for the art and industry buzz is only going to increase with the years. In the meantime enjoy the session tracks. If you like them you can purchase her physical EP here or download it from iTunes. See you soon, in different skin.
